Meier's Artisan Cheese traces its origins all the way back to the renowned cheese haven of Switzerland. Picture this: in 1989, my wife, Helen & I, along with our young brood and belongings, embarked on a modern- day adventure and settled in the picturesque North Country. We purchased a farm and set about tilling the land and nurturing our Holstein and Jersey herds. However, we soon realized that the milk prices farmers received were less than ideal. Something had to be done to overcome this predicament.

Fast forward to 2011, when my passion for cheese- making was reignited. Drawing on my teenage memories of summers spent in the Swiss Alps, where I dabbled in the craft, I felt a strong desire to start making cheese again. And so, with a sense of nostalgia and determination, we began our cheese making journey.

Our humble beginnings were reminiscent of the olden days, as we set up a small cheese plant right next to the barn, just like they do it in the alpine regions. But as fate would have it, the pandemic prompted a major change. We seized the opportunity to construct a brand-new, state-of-the-art processing facility. Not only did this allow us to meet the surging demand for our products, but it also enabled us to expand our offerings to include whole milk, non-homogenized Swiss-style yogurt. Plus, it was a way to appease the authorities with their growing requirements for food safety.

It's worth noting that all the milk we use still comes from our happy herd, which is free from artificial hormones. These fortunate cows enjoy a wholesome and entirely vegan diet, non-GMO, 100% grown on our family land. We strive for the least possible carbon footprint, prioritizing the environment every step of the way.

So go ahead and savor the goodness of our nourishing and environmentally friendly dairy products. They're the perfect combination of health and taste, brought to you with love by our family.
